The above weeks are simply pick-up. Given the fact we
have 80 players, we'll break our 2:00-6:30 window of time into three 90 minute sessions and limit each session to
a maximum of 24 players per session. (re: 3 X 24 - 72 : Based on past experience we never exceed 90% capacity
in a given week for pick-up. If the event we do we'll modify this maximum)
Upon arrival teams are
chosen by upper-classmen.
An EVITE will be sent out each week permitting all players to sign-up for their
requested timeslot each week. (2:00-3:30, 3:30-5:00, 5:00-6:30)
In order for this to work
effectively, everyone needs to be consistent in abiding by two golden rules:
a. Please only sign-up for a given
session if there are less than 24 people signed up for that 90 minute session.
b. If a conflict arises
for you after you sign-up, please move yourself to the "NO" bucket and denote "NOT PLAYING" in the comment
of the NO Section. This will allow others the opportunity to take your slot.
24+ players showing up at one
time to play pick-up will result in many folks sitting extended periods of time. If the EVITE is followed, this scenario should
not occur.
This process worked very well for the 08-09 & 09-10 season
and we'll duplicate it for the 10-11 season. (It sounds more complicated than it is..once you see the EVITE it is easy
to follow.)
For liability and safety reasons, we need to have an adult present during pick-up. (This
doesn't necessarily have to be one the bench coaches of the league. Simply any adult regardless of whether you have basketball
background to be present. The HS players will coordinate their own pick-up sessions fine.)
